A$AP Rocky releases new single ‘Same Problems’

A$AP Rocky is back with a brand-new track titled ‘Same Problems’. The latest single launches the details of his forthcoming new record in a swaggering style.

For the track, A$AP Rocky has teamed up with his old friends Lil Yachty and Miguel, who offer background vocals on the jangly guitar tune with a math rock vibe. With a rumbling bassline, there is a real sinister air to the sombre song.

This ominous feeling proves fitting as A$AP Rocky takes on the role of a gangster in a sorrowful spot as he laments the recent spate of deaths on the hip-hop scene in a decidedly Tony Soprano-esque set of rhymes.

The song is self-produced and shows off all of A$AP Rocky’s talent both in the booth and outside of it. “How many problems get solved if we don’t get involved?” the star asks in the lyrics before diving into the problematic zeitgeist in rap at the moment.

Speaking to Apple Music, he explained: “I think I was feeling remorse. I think I was feeling plight. I think I was also feeling a sense of guilt, because every time we lose somebody in our community, we all, especially me, have a habit of just saying things like, ‘It’s messed up. It’s wrong. Why do these kind of things happen?’”

Adding: “I never took time out to really understand that I was part of the problem because I was contributing those kind of lyrics and whatnot to songs. Without preaching too much, I just wanted to touch on something a bit different opposed to just being braggadocios, flamboyant and just regular rap content for me.”

The song will feature alongside ‘Heavy Hitter’ on his new record which also features contributions from Tyler, The Creator and Thundercat. He also confirmed: “It’s finished and we just putting the finishing touches on it. It’s coming for sure.”
