A$AP Rocky’s ‘Don’t Be Dumb’ debuts at number one on Billboard 200
A$AP Rocky‘s new album has debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart.
Don’t Be Dumb was released on January 16th and serves as the Harlem rapper’s first project in eight years.
Opening at the top of the chart, the album moved 123,000 units in its first week for the week ending January 22nd.
Of that figure, 76,000 were SEA units (78.02 million on-demand streams of the album’s songs), and 47,000 were pure album sales.
Don’t Be Dumb was available as a 15-track CD and vinyl, and was also sold as a deluxe box set with clothing items. The streaming version initially included two bonus tracks; then, on January 21st, two more songs were added to the tracklist.
Last week was Rocky’s biggest streaming week ever, debuting at number one on the Top Streaming Albums. He also opened at number three on the Top Album Sales.
Celebrating his number one album on X (formerly Twitter), Rocky wrote, “LFGGG.” His partner and mother of his three children, Rihanna, added, “Just me here to let yall know my baby daddy got the NUMBER 1 ALBUM!!! Aaahhhhhh hah! DONT BE DUMB!!!”
Don’t Be Dumb was preceded by two lead singles, ‘Punk Rocky’ and ‘Helicopter’, which were both performed during his Saturday Night Live appearance.
The project includes features from Tyler, The Creator, Westside Gunn, Doechii, BossMan Dlow, Brent Faiyaz, Gorillaz, Sauce Walka, will.i.am, and many others special guests.
Don’t Be Dumb is Rocky’s third number one album, following 2013’s At Long Last ASAP and 2015’s Long Live ASAP. His last album, Testing, released in 2018, only reached number four with 75,000 units in its first week.
