A$AP Relli hires new legal team ahead of civil trial against A$AP Rocky

A$AP Relli has hired a new legal team in his fight against A$AP Rocky. The Harlem rapper’s former associate filed an assault and battery lawsuit against him, with a trial set for January 12th, 2026.

In a hearing on October 14th, Relli’s new attorneys stated they had been “working diligently” on his case after Rocky was found not guilty of felony assault charges in February.

According to Rolling Stone, Relli is open to private mediation with a retired judge to settle his civil claims. Rocky’s lawyer, Wogai Mohmand, said they were also open to discussions, asking for a court-ordered mandatory settlement conference with a sitting judge.

Judge William F Fahey told them to attempt private discussions, giving them a deadline of six weeks to find a retired judge and meet for mediation. As part of the order, they must report back by December 10th.

In September, a judge advised Relli to drop his lawsuit over legal fees. “I would urge you to contact the other side and see if a deal can be made,” Judge Randolph M Hammock said.

He added, “Maybe in exchange for dismissing the lawsuit, they’ll drop their claim for fees … Maybe it’s time to cut your losses. I’m not talking chump change here. It would be tens of thousands, easily.”

It was reported Relli might have to pay Rocky and his lawyer over $50,000 in legal fees, but he refused to back down.

“I’ve already invested over $500,000,” he said. “I paid [my prior law firm] Sheppard Mullin, and they left me at the last minute. So now, I’m stuck on my own. I’m just fighting for my rights here.”

Rocky was acquitted after being accused of firing a gun at Relli in Hollywood in November 2021, dodging a possible 24-year prison sentence.
