T-Pain accuses Kanye West of plagiarising his lyrics for ‘Dark Fantasy’

T-Pain has accused Kanye West of plagiarising his lyrics for ‘Dark Fantasy’ on his utterly iconic 2010 album release My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

While streaming on Twitch, the rapper told his fans that Yeezy had “stole one of my corny lines after he had told me it was corny. I couldn’t believe it.” The duo encountered each other creatively when they worked on the West and Jay-Z collaboration album, Watch the Throne, which he featured on.

The ‘Ladies Love R&B’ star then took the opportunity to show West his new unreleased mixtape Prevolver, which contained the fateful “corny” lyric.

T-Pain announced to his stream viewers: “I was so proud of my new mixtape that I had coming. It was a lot of rap. I was showing Kanye my shit, to be like, is this good rap? I really wanted his opinion.”

He then continues to describe West as listening attentively “bobbing his head” and “grabbing his chin” and when the following line from ‘Danger’ arrived – “I got beef like two burgers / You n****s win slow and I’m smarter than Steve Urkel” – West seemed to voice his distaste.

“When I said that line he looked at me and said, ‘Don’t say that’,” T-Pain recalls West remarking. “Now, keep in mind the Winslow family, right? [who appeared in the show Family Matters with Urkel]. Corny as fuck. I knew it was corny when I said it. Kanye confirmed it, ‘Don’t ever say anything ever like that’.”

However, flash forward a little further down the line, and you hear West seemingly taking inspiration from the “corny” line in ‘Dark Fantasy’ as he spits out with vigour: “too many Urkels on your team, that’s why you wins low.” Make of that what you will…
