Ludacris has long believed that he delivered the best verse on the iconic Nas track ‘Made You Look (Remix)’. Now, he has publicly stated his claim and reminded fans why he is a hip hop legend.
The Atlanta rapper wade in on the current debate about whether he, Nas or MC Jadakiss laid down the best verse on the anthem. Unsurprisingly, the confident star backed himself and even had evidence at the ready. Some would say he had been awaiting this debate for a while.
“Man, I picked up my phone today and saw that the Luda fans chose violence and I’m loving every minute of it. So let’s add to the debate online about the ‘Made You Look’ song, the remix, the verses just in case they missed a line or something,” he announced on Instagram.
Then just to show how memorable his verse was, the rapper rattled over his verse, rounding it off with the classic punchline: “You should print my information, quote my rhymes/ And keep me in between these New York and L.A. Times/ I’m just a victim of society, it’s ‘Cris the Menace/ With mo’ shit out on the streets than evicted tenants, Luda!”
The track was released back in 2003 and 20 years on it remains one of the genre’s finest songs. Taken from Nas’ sixth album, God’s Son, many have claimed that Nas himself owns the track in every sense, but it is hard to look beyond the catchy poetry of Luda’s flow.
The track was dubbed the best hip hop single in history by Gotti and it has been lauded as a classics by the likes of Amy Winehouse too.
