6ix9ine requests sentencing delay over mother being held at gunpoint

6ix9ine was the victim of a violent burglary over the weekend. Following the incident, he’s asking for US District Judge Paul A Engelmayer to delay his sentencing.

The Brooklyn rapper has requested to postpone his sentencing until January in order to move his family for their safety. Prosecutors are calling for him to serve up to nine months for violating his supervised release.

According to AllHipHop, his lawyer, Lance Lazzaro, filed a letter with the judge on November 18th, seeking an adjournment of the November 20th sentencing in Manhattan federal court.

He wrote, “The reason for this request is that Mr Hernandez was the victim of a home invasion on Sunday, November 16th. Four masked men entered his home and held his mother at gunpoint while several items were taken from his home.”

The filing refers to 6ix9ine’s 60-year-old mother being held against her will as a result of the men breaking into the property and stealing various belongings.

A statement from the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office read, “Road Patrol deputies were dispatched to the above address for a home invasion robbery/burglary in progress. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with several individuals inside the residence who reported that four armed, masked men entered the home with handguns.”

It continued, “They stated that the homeowner’s mother was held physically outside while the remaining suspects ran inside and ransacked the property. The suspects asked for cash and car keys. A K-9 track and search of the residence was conducted with negative results. Suspects possibly left in a vehicle prior to deputies’ arrival.”

6ix9ine appeared on a stream with Adin Ross, Ben Da Donnn, and Neon this week, denying rumours that the Island Boys were behind the robbery.

“I guess people saw that I was working and took the opportunity,” he said. “They were kids from the looks of it. There are 230 homes in my neighbourhood. It was kids in the neighbourhood.”

He added, “There were no tattoos, so that myth that it was the two brothers, that’s just a myth – an Instagram conspiracy. I’m glad my mum’s OK and my family’s OK.”
