50 Cent to star in Sylvester Stallone movie, 'Expend4bles'

American actor Sylvester Stallone’s popular franchise, The Expendables, will return later this year for its fourth instalment, Expend4bles, with 50 Cent joining the cast list.

The first movie in the series was released in 2010, co-written and directed by Stallone. However, for Expendables 2, Simon West took over directing duties, and Patrick Hughes carried out the role for Expendables 3.

Expend4bles is directed by Scott Waugh, who helmed 2014’s Need for Speed. This is the first instalment in the franchise that doesn’t give Stallone co-writing credits. Instead, Kurt Wimmer, Tad Daggerhart and Max Adams have penned the script.

However, Stallone will still reprise his role as Barney Ross, the leader of The Expendables. Other actors like Dolph Lundgren, Jason Statham and Randy Couture will also return to the franchise. However, new additions to the cast include Andy Garcia, Megan Fox and the rapper 50 Cent, who will play a new member of the team.

The film’s synopsis reads: “Armed with every weapon they can get their hands on and the skills to use them, The Expendables are the world’s last line of defense and the team that gets called when all other options are off the table. But new team members with new styles and tactics are going to give ‘new blood’ a whole new meaning.”

Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Stallone revealed that his role in the film would be significantly smaller. When asked how production is going, he replied, “I heard it turned out pretty good. Jason Statham is 80 percent of it. He’s happy with it.”

Expend4bles is set for release on September 22nd, 2023.
