50 Cent takes a strange new shot at Ja Rule

As the New York Knicks are eliminated from the 2024 NBA playoffs, ending what had otherwise been a promising postseason run, rapper 50 Cent has decided to point the finger at Ja Rule after the disappointing loss.

The Knicks were in a good position throughout the game but ended up losing to the Indiana Pacers 130 – 109. This was game seven of the Eastern Conference semi-finals on May 19th in front of a crowd made up of the hopeful, proud and disappointed in Madison Square Garden.

Shortly after the game, 50 Cent went on Twitter to blame Ja Rule for the loss, uploading a photo of him holding the NBA championship trophy with a taunting message. “If you’re wondering why the Knicks couldn’t get the W, here you have it. SMH who let this fool touch the trophy LOL.”

Ja Rule appeared in a promotional video with the trophy only two weeks ago as part of the playoffs’ promotional campaign. The video was intended as an advertisement, but 50 Cent has decided to flip the purpose of the trophy-holding and deems it has cursed the New York Knicks.

50 Cent wasn’t alone in this assessment, either. Many Knicks fans jumped on board with these scathing remarks as well, saying that Ja Rule is guilty of “cursing” the long-suffering team the minute he posted a clip of himself saying, “Champions only, baby. Let’s go, Knicks!”

50 Cent followed up his accusation with another tweet, saying, “This janky ass [ninja emoji] put his juju all on the team. Fuck that I’m bet my money on the wolves! LOL.”

Many sporting pundits have attributed the loss to the Knicks’ plethora of injuries. Jalen Brunson, Julius Randle, and Josh Hart were all less than fighting fit going into the game. However, those who are a bit more superstitious have noted that the Knicks aren’t the first team that Ja Rule has cursed with his involvement.

In 2019, the rapper claimed that he had placed a curse on the Minnesota Timberwolves following a halftime performance that was widely mocked. When responding to negative press online, Ja Rule wrote, “You just jinx yourself talking to the GOD this way… your CURSED NOW!!! You won’t win a championship for the next 30 years… AND KAT IS LEAVING!!! Apologise and I’ll lift the CURSE!!!”

Since then, the Timberwolves haven’t won an NBA championship, further breathing life into the idea that Ja Rule can curse sports teams.
