50 Cent congratulates Donald Trump on election win
Oddly, 50 Cent recently took to Instagram to praise Donald Trump for winning the US election by sharing a message of congratulations. The ‘In Da Club’ rapper recently admitted that he wasn’t that concerned about politics. However, he still saw it fit to be polite to the winner.
After posting a photo of him shaking Donald Trump’s hand, Fifty captioned the post: “I don’t care how the fight goes. I’m leaving with the winner shit. I still don’t know what’s going on [face palm emoji] congratulations!”
Despite his congratulations post, 50 Cent did not officially endorse a candidate in the 2024 race and even claimed to have turned down millions to perform for Donald Trump at a rally this year.
During an appearance on The Breakfast Club in October, DJ Envy asked the ’21 Questions’ rhymer if the rumours surrounding a rally were true, and Fifty confirmed that Donald Trump offered him money to give him an endorsement and performance, stating, “I got a call, and they wanted me [for] Sunday.”
At the time, there was even a rumour that he was even asked to perform his 2003 hit ‘Many Men’ at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee over the summer, and 50 Cent confirmed the rumour, clarifying, “They offered $3 million.”
However, 50 Cent turned down both offers due to his lack of interest in politics. Speaking about the race, the Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ creator explained, “I didn’t even go far… I didn’t talk to them about [endorsements]. I’m afraid about politics. You understand? I do not like no part about them. It’s because when you do get involved in it, no matter how you feel, someone passionately disagrees with you.”
50 Cent also clarified that he has always avoided discussing religion and politics, as it will inevitably make you unpopular and pointed to Kanye West as an example, stating, “That’s the formula for the confusion that sent Kanye to Japan. He said something about those things [politics], and now he can only go to Japan.”
The President-elect, Donald Trump, has been a highly divisive figure in the US, and his Madison Square Garden rally caused particular uproar after one speaker, comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, labelled Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage.” He also referenced a Black person in the audience, joking, “We carved watermelons together.”
As such, it’s understandable why 50 Cent chose to keep his distance. However, now the winner has been declared, Fifty just wants to make sure he remains a neutral figure with nothing but goodwill.
