50 Cent admits he has “smarter” people than him behind all of his projects
50 Cent is a mogul and smart businessman and has had a lot of success outside of music and although he will always be known as a rapper he has created an empire in television and film. However, he didn’t do it all on his own and despite what many may believe he has a solid team around him allowing him to have bigger and better opportunities.
The Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ creator has produced five full-length studio albums. However, he has also ventured into films, cologne, clothes, shoes, and pretty much every other imaginable merchandise. That said, during an interview the lyricist explained how, although he handles most of his ventures he doesn’t do it alone.
Opening up about the setup of his businesses, 50 Cent explained the amount of input he has and how much he outsources, beginning, “I oversee all my projects and deal with portions of the information, but I delegate the responsibilities as well and hire people for certain positions. “
Unveiling that, to this day, he still has certain weaknesses in his business knowledge, the Massacre creator admitted that many of the people he recruits to manage his projects have a vast amount of knowledge and are some of the brightest minds in the US, stating, “A lot of my employees are actually smarter than me and have achieved a higher level of education. Some of them are even Harvard graduates. I put these guys in positions to run my companies.”
As he explained how intelligent the individuals who handle his businesses and advise him are, the emcee was asked whether he hires people solely based on where they went to school. That said, he denied employing people only from Ivy League universities. Instead, he revealed that he also looks for people who have a lot of experience in the field they work in.

Detailing the requirements, he has for his candidates, the ‘In Da Club’ rhymer explained, “It’s not just [their] educational background but also their experience in their fields. My choice always depends on what I want to accomplish with a certain project.”
He continued, “Based on the résumé alone you could sometimes hire the wrong person and then later realize that they might be qualified but they can’t actually execute. If that happens you fire them and hire someone else.”
In a world where so many MCs stick solely to music and perhaps clothing, Fifty explained what drives him to keep on exploring different areas of commerce and revealed the critical ingredient to being a mogul in hip-hop.
Asserting the ambition is the key, Fifty told The Talks, “If you are ambitious, you are running in a tunnel that never ends. You will always find something new to go after. If you would have asked me for one wish in 2003 I would have told you that I want my music to be a success. But now I know what that feels like and you can’t match that anymore because the first time you feel something it’s different.”
The emcee concluded by saying that rappers should chase the feeling they got when they first broke into the music industry but search for it in other places, concluding, “In hip-hop music, you create metaphors constantly, so try to imagine creating a metaphor for having sex for the first time. It’s monumental. Create a metaphor for the first time you were in love, that’s monumental. Or the first time an addict got high, you can’t recreate that. I got high for the first time with Get Rich or Die Tryin’ and I have been trying to achieve that feeling again since then, all the time.”
