23-year-old Michigan rapper shot dead near Ypsilanti

Michigan rapper BLVD Book has been shot and killed.

The 23-year-old (real name Davin Copeland Jr) was identified as the man who lost his life near Ypsilanti on June 9th.

According to MLive, Book died at around midnight near a business complex in the 2000 block of Golfside Road in Ypsilanti Township.

The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office attended the scene of the crime after receiving reports of a shooting. Police arrived to find a man on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds.

Despite efforts to provide aid, the rapper was declared dead. As of June 10th, no arrests had been made, and it was unclear what motivated the shooting.

Deputies said, “Despite numerous efforts to save this young man’s life, he could not be revived and was pronounced deceased on scene. Any loss of life is tragic, and the Sheriff’s Office empathises and sympathises with the family and community.” 

Book is best known for songs such as ‘It’s MI5HTY’, ‘Enough Said’, ‘Whole Lotta Shots’, ‘Hours Back’, ‘Wicked Thoughts’, and ‘Free Ree’, with his visuals racking up over 150,000 views.

Fans took to the comments of his YouTube videos to pay tribute. One person wrote, “Rip my baby they couldn’t stop the bully,” while another said, “Just seen mfs saying yu home now yu dead life’s krazy bruh Rip.”

Others said, “Rip da bully u will always be on this earth even tho you left,” and “BIG BULLYYYYY LLYOUMYHEARTTTTT.”

Fox 2 Detroit previously reported that Book was arrested in July 2023 for allegedly shooting at a woman and her daughter after a rear-end crash. He was accused of fleeing the scene and being on the run for almost three months.
