2 Chainz responds to Kendrick Lamar calling him a liar on ‘Not Like Us’

2 Chainz found himself in the middle of Kendrick Lamar and Drake’s feud after being mentioned on the popular diss track ‘Not Like Us’. Tity Boi has remained quiet on the lyrics since the song was released in May 2024, but now he’s finally responded.

The Atlanta rapper appeared on The Breakfast Club this week alongside The Alchemist and Larry June following the release of their collaborative album, Life Is Beautiful, which has seen Chainz receiving lofty praise.

During the interview, Charlamagne Tha God asked Chainz why he lied to Kendrick about Drake being good. The question refers to Kendrick’s line, “2 Chainz say you good, but he lied,” which appears in the third verse.

“I just think it was kinda some word play because Drake and I got a song called ‘No Lie,’” Chainz said. “But I didn’t take it as no kind of way. I don’t think he was taking a shot at me. I’ve heard all type of instances where somebody want me to say something back.”

He added, “I just think it was a moment where it was about Atlanta artists. I was okay with it. Some people didn’t want they name in it, some people was like, ‘Why didn’t he say my name?’ And it’s just – it wasn’t nothing.”

‘No Lie’ was released in 2012 and served as the lead single from Chainz’s debut album, Based on a T.R.U. Story. Drake raps a verse in the song, which peaked at number 24 on the Hot 100, while also handling the chorus. He famously sings on the hook, “No lie, no lie, no lie-ee-i-ee-i.”

Throughout the previously mentioned verse on ‘Not Like Us‘, Kendrick mentions other Atlanta rappers, including Future, Lil Baby, 21 Savage, Young Thug and Quavo. He claimed Drake only collaborates with rappers from the city to steal their style and make money for himself.

He raps, “You run to Atlanta when you need a check balance/ Let me break it down for you, this the real n*gga challenge/ You called Future when you didn’t see the club/ Lil Baby helped you get your lingo up/ 21 gave you false street cred/ Thug made you feel like you a slime in your head/ Quavo said you can be from Northside.”

Kendrick, Chainz and Drake collaborated on a song in 2012, with the trio appearing on A$AP Rocky’s ‘Fuckin’ Problems’ from his Long. Live. ASAP album.
