18-year-old Virginia rapper shot dead in Richmond

Virginia rapper WB Splush has passed away following a shooting in Richmond earlier this week.

The 18-year-old (real name Markese Callahan-Davis) was involved in a fatal incident that took place on March 17th.

According to WRIC ABC 8News, officers responded to reports of a shooting on the 1300 block of St Peter Street at around 9:40pm.

Splush suffered an apparent gunshot wound near the Gilpin Court neighbourhood before being taken to a local hospital. However, police said he later died of his injuries.

Detectives responded to the scene of the crime and interviewed people, but revealed they weren’t looking for any suspects.

Splush is best known for songs such as ‘Keef Flow’ and ‘My Turn’, which have 181,000 and 157,000 views on YouTube. Other big tracks include ‘Hell’ and ‘CBFW’.

The buzzing rapper had over 12,000 Instagram followers, with his biggest song on Spotify, ‘Rookie of the Year Freestyle 23’, racking up 56,000 streams. Splush dropped one album, titled WETM, in 2023.

Fans took to social media to pay tribute to Splush, commenting under a local community page on Instagram. “My condolences to his family and friends,” one person wrote. “Just met him last month and he was just being a regular respectable young man simply playing basketball. SIP.”

Another user said, “Can’t even make it out this bs ass city he was one of them ones who was ready make it out these streets don’t love nobody rest up young king.”

Someone who has lost their child wrote, “To the parents: My deepest condolences, prayers and sympathies are with you in this time. I lost my son almost 4years ago… May the Most High cover you and your family through this time.”
