18-year-old Brooklyn rapper shot and killed in broad daylight

Brooklyn rapper BOE Quahh has been shot and killed at the age of 18.

The young artist (real name Quahmir Cruz) reportedly lost his life on May 10th following a shooting in the Brownsville neighbourhood of New York City.

According to the New York Daily News, Quahh was shot outside his home in NYCHA’s Van Dyke Houses at around 1pm on Mother’s Day.

The incident took place on Blake Avenue near Mother Gaston Boulevard, with the rapper suffering gunshot wounds to the chest.

Quahh was taken to the nearby Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

As of May 11th, police were investigating the shooting but had made no arrests. Following his death, his local neighbourhood came out in big numbers to release orange balloons.

Fans and collaborators took to social media to pay tribute to Quahh following his death. One person wrote on Instagram, “Always called me the best engineer you know, never will forget our memories mud. RIP Quah.”

Another user said, “Just saw them post on the citizen app. rip to that young man and praying for his mom. mother’s day will never be the same for her.”

Others wrote, “Nah wtf yall heartless no mother deserves to loose her child regardless off him being in the streets my condolences,” and “On mothers day ya gotta do it better thus shyt not lefty this shyt not real right this shyt not gangsta at all.”

Quahh released his only project, Pain 2 Poetry, in March 2025, featuring songs like ‘Rump Ina Mornin’, ‘Get It Together’, and ‘Overthinker’. Some of his biggest music videos on YouTube include ‘3 O’s Not 2’, ‘OE Anthem’, and ‘Top 4’.
